Hi, my name is Kate and I have bee a practising midwife for 11 years. I completed a degree in nursing in 1994 at a London hospital and then went on to study midwifery at Wycombe General. Following this I worked at Hemel Hempstead maternity unit and presently at Watford General hospital. My first son was born in 1998 and since then I have worked part time. I have three sons now and juggle them between work and managing the home. I work on the Alexandra Birthing Centre at the moment which is a midwifery led unit. I love all areas of midwifery practice and have regularly taught ante natal classes at the hospital. The importance of ante natal classes is under estimated. You can make lifelong friends who will be able to provide support and friendship at one of the most vulnerable times in your life. The information gathered from classes helps to ease anxiety surrounding birth. A little bit of knowledge will make decision making easier around the time of birth and in the early days with your baby. Small groups with no more than 8 in each group You can choose to come to one or all of the classes Women only groups or couples, you can choose The topics covered in the classes are listed below Antenatal complications onset and stages of labour what to expect in hospital birthplans and pain relief birth when things don't go to plan feeding care of the new-born Tring, Pittstone, Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire.
